Among the passengers by the' B.M.S. Niagara, which arrived at Auckland from San Francisco yesterday morning, were Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Hintz, of Taihape. Some time ago they left New Zealand for a trip to America., with' the object of visiting the Panama Exposition. When interviewed this morning, Mr. Hintz stated' that they had had a splendid passage both. v ways, and the trip had been full of'in- # reresr.. The Exposition formed the- centre of attraction for thousands of' people and many of the buildings are wonderful sanrplfcs of architectural' sltirL , The portion of the Exposition devoted? to New Zealand was a splendid' advertisement for this covmtry and' NewZealand had been successful in gaining over 400 awards, which was a very fl'nc record. The conditions of living in America Avere widely different from those pertaining in this part of the j world, but both Mr. and Mrs. Hintr i were very glad to get bay-k again to New Zealand. Mr. Hintz- considers it the best country in the world and he says that evect Americans admit that it is a great country. During their stay in America Mr. and Mrs. Hintx went from Vancouver to Bainf, some 600 miles inland, which proved a very interesting .journey. They also went down the beautiful Columbia River, and visited Portland. Eventually, they returned to Vancouver, where they caught the Niagara on August 4tl> for New Zealand.
