BOTHA’S BROAD POLICY. ENDORSED BY GENERAL' SMUTS. SOUTH AFRICA’S OUTLOOK BLOEMFONTEIN, August 20. At the South African Party Congres s M ( r Botha’s yspeech emphasised Bis broad policy. He stood where he did in 1909, when South Africa agreed to hav e one united people and one country.
Mr Smuts, endorsing Mr Botha’s remarks, declared that unless they appealed as a united ho us eh did they might yet become the shuttlecock of European powers. SOUTH AFRICAN LOYALTY. At an anti-war meeting the audience refused to hear the speeches. They rushed the leaders and Hertzogites. who refused to stand during the singing of the National Anthem. They took possession of the hall and passed a resolution to support the war until German tyranny had been crushed.
MALAYA’S LOYALTY. \ LONDON, August 20. Residents of Perak have presented two aeroplanes to the Army Council, making three from Malaya.
