It is believed the town is partiallydestroyed, Efforts to ascertain the loss indicate that the whole city is under water There has been heavyloss of life on the Texas Coast. Twelve soldiers were killed in Texas City, and 40 civilians' were found dead. At other coastal points scores of bodies were washed ashore, bridges, railways and telegraphs were destroyed, buildings collapsed and vessels were wrecked.
