PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.
FAREWELL. TO TAIHAPB RECRUITS. A meeting of the Patriotic Committee was held last evening, the chief business being to consider what form the farewell to Taihape lads bound for the training camp should take. It was eventually decided to invite the public to a social and dance of the most informal character on Monday evening. Special invitations wifl be sent to all the, young men who have been called up, by Mr Murreil, the I secretary to the Committee, so that none may be missed. Those present will b e free to enjoy themselves in anyway they think best. Refreshments will be provided, and musical items will intersperse brief speeches from Mr R. \V. Smith, M.P.; th e acting-Mayor, Mr H. T) Bennett; and, perhaps, others. The Taihape Brass Band will be in attendance, and every effort will be made lo giv e the guests as enjoyable a time as possible. No charge whatever will be made to the general public, it may therefore be concluded that the Town Hall's holding capacity will be taxed to its utmost.
