TAIHAPE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

ORDINARY FORTNIGHTLY The usual fortnight}}' meeting of tne Taihape Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers last night, when th*rc were present: The Acting-Mayor '(Mr. 11. D. Bennett), Crs. W. McLennan. ft, Wrightson, E. Healey, F. W. iSomerville, and E. C. Bamett. The minutes of the previous Couni-il meting were read and confirmed. A letter was received from the District Engineer. Ohakune, stating that the proposal for the provision for pedestrian traffic on the south overhead bridge over the railway.at Taihape had been approved, and work would be commenced as soon as possible. The Mayor of Auckland wrote, intimating that a number of tickets in connection with the Botha Testionial had been forwarded to the Council, asking that they be disposed of, and thanking the councillors for their cooperation. The Acting-Mayor reported that in reference to the Electrical Engineer's visit to Auckland, .that officer had secured information which might prove of value at a later date. The Health Inspector wrote Te licenses for plumbers and pipe-layers, and asking that the matter be attended to. Cr. Bamett moved that plumbers and drain-layers be instructed to obtain licenses from the Council, in accordance with by-laws.—The motion was adopted. The Acting-Mayor reported that there had been no meeting of the Finance Committee, and the Treasurer's report was submitted direct ' to the raccting'. On the motion of Cr. McLcnnan, seconded by Cr. "Wrightson, accounts were passed for payment. Cr. McLenan reported that there had been no meeting of the Reserves Committee. The Acting-Mayor said that nothinghad transpired since last meeting, and therefore there was no report from the Electric Light and Water Supply Committee. It behoved the Council to be very careful with regard to the supply of water to the town. In connection with the breakdown of the pump on the Mataroa Road the councillors responsible for the water supply -had arranged for a temporary pump to be installed. The work was well under way and in a couple cf days he hoped that everything would be right. The Council then adjourned.
