HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT■ LONDON MARKETS. LONDON, August S. (Note: Quotations unless otherwise specified are average market prices on spot). Meat: No material change in market conditions. During the week the, market declined further owing to poc,r demand, together with heavy -supplier Mutton; North Island, 5 3-18 d for best quality light weight; ordinary quality 6iid; e wes 6d. Lamb: Canterbury twos, 8?,d; heavy weights, 8 1-Sd; clhey than Canterbury, 8 1-Sd for light weight; second grade, Bd.
New Zealand is not quoted. Chilled hinds, 8M1; fores, 7 l-Bd. Butter: The; market is very firm for best quality. Danish is firm, but in limited demand, 170/ to 174/; Siberian, good demand, especially for finest, 130/ to 134/; Australian, the supply is practically exhausted, prices aye not quoted; Irish creamery is firm, fair demand, 150/ to 164/; Argentine, none offered. Cheese: The market is steadier. Canadian, quiet, white and coloured, 74/ to 76/; English chejddar, quiet, 94/ to 96/; New .Zealand quiet, 74/ to 76/, up to 78/; United States, little more doing, 68/ to 74/, according to size. It is estimated that Canadain cheese stocks at London, Liverpool and Bristol, on August 3rd were 332,000 boxe;s, against 163,000 boxes last year. New Zealand and Australian cheese stocks at London and Bristol on August 3rd were 8,350 crates, against 10,500 crates last year.
Hemp; Market is steady with improved demand. New Zealand good fair grade, £32; fair, £3O; August to October shipment, goed fair, £3l 10/; fair, £29 10/; Manilla, new graded, fair, £37. The output from Manilla for the week was 13,000 bales.
Hops; Market remains firm. English 110/ to 130//; Californian, 90// to 110/. Wheat: Market is firmer on account of bad weather. For August and September shipment, American, 48/ per qr; Canadian. Co/; for September and October shipment, Canadian, new crop, 49/6. Oats: Market is firmer, and there is more demand. August and September shipment, Argentine, 2-3/6 per quarter. DALGETY AND COMPANY, LTD. HIDE AND SKIN REPORT. In addition to the usual fortnightly sale of skins, hides and tallow, we held this afternoon the last of the special cretchings sales of the season. Representatives of Homs, Japanese and local buying houses were in attendance and prices for medium lines of crutch mgs were on a par with those ruling at last sale. All good lines were lower by cne penny per lb, whilst inferior and seedy serts were about one penny to lid lower. ■ Skins and hides also showed a decided drop cn last sale’s prices. Tallow was very firm at late rates. Quotations;
