The Wanganui Hospital and Charitable, Aid Bnard apnlied to the Rangitikei County Council on Saturday last for payment of levy for the current yea,r amounting to £2706 2/9. It was decided to pay half. The need for wheat is being recognised by farmers generally, and extended areas of cultivation are anticipated this season. In order to assist growers by reducing the small bird nuisance, the Rangitikei County Council decided on Saturday to increase the grant for poisoned wheat from £3O to £SO. This course was adopted when an application was received from Dalgety and Company’s Taihape branch for a supply for distribution in the Taibape district.
