AND WAIMASISO ADVOCATE

(With which ia i/monmrftrad '[’he Taihape Poat ‘ina Waiomrin" ?<e*B.)

A public holiday has been proclaimed by the Taihape Borough Council on Wednesday afternoon, to enable everyone to attend the Declaration Day celebrations.

This morning’s south-bound express, arrived at Taihape half-an-hour behind time. It is understood .that nothing beyond a sieving down over places where recent slips occurred was the cause. At St. Margaret’s Church last night there was a successful practice by the combined choirs, of the hymns that arc to be sung at the Declaration Day services, in the Town Hall, on Wednesday. Mr. Mitchell, of the Methodist Church Choir, conducted the practice, and Mr. Henrichs presided at ih«, organ.

Several members of Friendly Scciei- | ties of Marton paid a visit to Taihape | on Saturday night, when they gave an open-air concert in Main Street and later made a collection at the two picture theatres. The party consisted of ladies and gentlemen, and at both theatres songs were renderd by the ladies and one of the gentlemen recited “The Day.” During the singing of the song. “Please give me a penny, Sir,’’ by one of the ladies, a continuous shower of coins, chiefly silver, greeted the singer. Colilectors moved among the audience also, and altogether a very gratif tying amount was realised. The money is for the Wounded ’ Soldiers’ Fund. The whole function was organised by members of Friendly Societies at Marton, in support of their Queen at the coming Queen Carnival at Marton, That Headache, ifullness of ■ the Eyes, Nasai discharge, and Sore Throat, .simply want a good treatment with “NAZOL,” which is prompt and certain in giving relief. Try it. 1/6 buys 60 doses.
