SPINSTERS' BALL.
IN AID OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS.
A most successful ball, held under the auspices of the ladies of the Utiku district, was held in Doole's Hall last night. The haE' was tastefully decorated with greenery and the flags of the Allies, and the floor, which had been specially prepared, was all Hhat could be desired. About SO couples took the floor Grand March, excellent music being supplied by C'rozier's Orchestra from Marton. Extras were played by Mrs. A. Chatfield, Mis? M. Deakon, and ¥r. H. Chase. Mrs.! Hebbard and Miss IST. O'Cononr proved! 'themselves to be -most efficient M.'S.C.j A most enjoyable supper, which was! provided by the ladies of the district,! was handed round, and dancing was! continued well into the early hours <rf the morning. Several vistors were present from Taihape. During the evening Mr. Chatfield, on beli&df of the gentlemen, moved a motion of thanks to the ladies for their return ball, which was carried with acclamation. A word of praise is aiso due to the working committee of-ladies, for the arrangements <of the evening, whlet 'deft nothing to '.be desired.
