ST. JOHN AMBULANCE.

(To the Editor) Sir, —It is now nearly six months since an appeal was made) thruogh your cMunuis on behalf of the St. John Ambulance Association for clothing and comforts for the sick and wounded, and the response was so prompt and generous that cur warehouse was immediately replenished with all sorts of garments, household linen and comforts. i Since th e autumn a vast nvjw army has come into being in England, while other armies have converged from the Dominions Overseas; our fleets are trifling not only in the Northern seas but in the Mediterranean as well; our troops ar e waging war on African and Asiatic sands as well as in th e tranches of France and Flanders. The casualties are very heavy, and not only dc our own sick and wounded ne'ejd a practically unlimited supply of everything for their comfort, but we should have failed in our traditions if we had act sent some succour to our Allies in France, Belgium and Eastern Europe. We arej thus faced with increasing demands, while th e supply upon which we have to depend shows a marked falling off, so that our shelves are emptying faster than we can keep them filled. Our sick and wounded deserve all that we can give them; if they have sacrificed health and limbs, sight and senses, let us at least see that they ■ have comfortable bedding in which to rest their suffering bodies, healing dressings with which to recover them of wounds, clean and cool clothing, for hospital and convalescence, and some of thos e obvious comforts, air cushions, invalid foods, long chairs, toilet requisites, stationery, etc., with which we hasten to th'ej bedside of the sick. These are the clays in which no one of us can ever give enough. All contributions will bt=i very thankfully received, and acknowledged by the chairman. St. John Ambulance Warehouse. 56. St. John’s Square, Clerkenwell, E.C. Yours faithfully, ARTHUR M. BEDFORD.
