In the KOus e of Commons, Mr Lenar ' Law sated that when tli e war began onr commerce was much interfered 'with by German- cruisers, assisted •by wireless stations in the Pacific and /Africa. Therefore* it was of the utmost & 9 importance to obtain possession* of or' destroy the stations. The most powerful cue was in the German Pacific Islands, and tho suggestion was made' that Australia and New Zealand should take possession of the Isfands containing the- stations; and trey ar.rced.NewZealand undertook to seifs Samoa,amE within-a week th e New Zealand Expeditionary Force was ready.
