Mr. Hughes states that in the report on the Rabaul charges he finds no evidence of improper dealing in Red A -Cross goods. There is no reason to 1 doubt the justice of the sentences passed at Rabaul, which were for breaches of the peace accompanied by physical violence. In one case a Chinaman was robbed by four members of the military police. It finds no fault with the Sydney court-martial! and confirms the dismissal of Ravepschoft, and the justice of the Court’s finding .in L. Moore’s ease. A BEEF PRICE RECORD. LOAN BILL. (Eec. 11.25 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day, In the House the Loan Bill* covering an advance of six and a half milions passed all. stages. Mr. Fisher explained' that when he "borrowed the eighteen million he saw that the amount was inadequate and he approached the British Government for a further ten million,- of which he obtained ’.61 without the authority of Parliament, which, he hoped, would be condoned.!
