Seen afterwards, Mr Massey stated that ho had nothing to say at present. TE ORANGA GIRLS’ HOME DESTROYED BY FIRE CHRISTCHURCH, Monday A fir 8 broke out at 4.30 this morning in the Te Oranga Girls’ Home, and completely destroyed the wooden portion of th e building and its contents. The place is outside the Fire Brigade area, but efforts of neighbours prevented the flames from spreading to the brick additions. The origin is a mystery.

A GREAT POSSIBILITY. The opening of the Dardanelles would mean European ammunition for Russia and Russian wheat for Europe. But it would mean much more than this. It -would mean that Russian soldiers in great numbers could be sent to France, and sent to France they certainly would be. Russia can spare them easily. Her need is not men,but of equipment, and it would suit her cards admirably to help in the -work of keening the German forces in the west and away from the defence of Prussia and Silesia.
