OHUTU NOTES.

THE BACHELORS’ BALL, IN AID OF WOUNDED SOLDIERS. (Own Correspondent). A bachelors’ ball w r as held at Ohutu on Friday, Ju.y l. In aid of the Wounded Soldiers’ and their dependents’ Fund. There were some fifty couples present, all of whom were profuse in their praise of the arrangements made for their enjoyment.

The music was supplied by Mrs Chatfield, gratuitously, and It would indeed b e hard to have had anything better for the occasion. The thanks of all present were due and freely given to Mrs Chatfield for her excellent mifsic. Extra dances were played by Mrs Allen, Messrs Tyson and Sanson, and Mr Louis, vh.ao were much appreciated.

A cushion and a mantle drape, beautifully worked by. Mrs Campbell, helped towards swelling the fund. Mr D. Wilkie, of Ohutu, also gave two sheep towards the object in view.

Tbe thanks of all ar e due to Mr R. Campbell for a ham, and to Mr Kennedy for the use of bis hall, both given free.

Though last, but by no mcaus least, wer© the splendid services rendered by Mrs Kennedy and Misses Heise and Picrcy; sue t- efforts were untiring,and ever helpful.

The money riased amounted to about £l2, net profit.

OHUTU DOMAIN BOARD,

The Ohutu Domain Board have just finished stumping about six acres of the Recreation Ground. This, it is hoped, will encourage out-door sports and pastimes, still more in the future than in the past.
