In a letter one of the Australians wrot e home the other day, the following was found by the Censor: “We are having an iron time —we live in an iron ship, sleep on an iron floor, have nothing to eat but iron rations, and now, to crown all, I hear We if l ' 6 commanded by a fellow called ‘lron Hamilton.’ ” The Government has appointed Colonel E. S. F. Henderson, a senior officer of the Royal Army Medical Corps and Hon. Physician to the King, to the position of Director of Medical Services in Kew Zealand. Colonel Henderson w r as appointed through the Home authorities, and is expected to leave England immediately for Kew Zealand. A good story is told of the Kaiser’s fondness for bestowing iron crosses. During a recent flying visit to Berlin from the front he came across an eminent postal official, and exclaimed with surprise, "But Herr , where !s your iron cross?” The official seemed as much surprised as the Kaiser, and explained that he never had one. "Well, probably it was delayed,” remarked the Kaiser. "I sent it to you from the front—as a Chritmas present. ’ ’
