A resident of Wellington recently designed a new type of shell, devised to break down barbed wire entangloincuts. The idea was to have a timefuse contained, in the missile, and at the proper time an internal explosion was to take place in the shell, having the effect of sending out two bars of iron, one on each side. Br their aid, barbed wire entanglements would bo cut to pieces. The inventor has since learned, however, that a similar shell is already in use in the British Army.
