Exploitation of farmers by sole agfiii'cies in the sale of separator? was afe?eged at the e6nferenee of the Nation* al Dairy Association,.when Mr. Gnrth (of Oruru-Fairburn) considered that the dairying industry had been exf pToited by sole agencies on the st!e- of separators and other dairying utensila by quite 50 per cent. He told of an instance where a company had been offered 27* per cent, to push the sale a separator. He asked the help of tha National Dairy Association in the matter, and moved that in view of the increasing and continual denrinda fo# separators, the National Asseerotio;* take immediate steps to prevent, as far as possible, the exploitation -f dairyfarmers by sole agencies in the sellingof separators. There were three wa\sr that it had struck him this coilil i* done—by the Government, the reprCH sentative of the National Dairy Association at Home purchasing the awparators, and by making the separators themselves. He asked the members ta go info the matter thoroughly. MrMartin (Matangi) said that his company had received a circular from air agency offering the same \ commission as stated to pusk the sale of its separators through the suppliers. If art agency were able to do that what profit was it making? ' He seconded th* motion, which was carried.
