ENTERTAINMENTS.

"CAMELLE." | AN EXCELLENT PRODUCTION. I At tlio Town Hall last night the wellknown "Within the Law" Company, under the direction of Dramas Ltd., presented a new dramatisation of Dumas' great play-novel, "Camille," featuring the beautiful and popular actress, Miss : Hilda Dorrington. The story of the life of Margarite Gautier (Camille) a-s portrayed in this standard work of Dumas', has been so widely read and is so well-known as to need no repetition here. The touching manner of her restoration to a purer and nobler life through the love of Armand Duval was -finely ; portrayed by Miss Dorrington, and her noble self-sacrifice in forcing her lover to gradually despise her, in order that his career might not,...be detrimentally . affected through his association with her, as being a woman or questionable character, was splendidly acted. Miss Dorrington 's characterisation of Margarite | Gautier calls for unstinted praise and I her fine stage presence at once stamps i Iher as an actress of distinction. The ', several, frocks worn by her ..were very beautiful;--.As .Armand Duval, her lover; Mr. Lionel Walsh, is deserving of the highest praise, and his renunciation of her love at the conclusion of Act 4 was splendidly done. The several other characters were well acted, Miss Tien Hogue as Madame Prudence, and Miss Kathleen Murray as Nannie calling for special mention. Other characters were taken by Wilton Power, Eelix Bland, William Lockhart, Hubert Lee, and Dunstan Webb. THREE STABS PICTURES. The lengthy programme of pictures being screened at this centre ef amusement contains many excellent pictures ad is headed by a thrilling story of the West, showing the constancy of a good man's love. This picture is replete with everything that holds and grips an audience and the love theme running through the story makes it a general favourite. The fifth number of the "Dolly of the Dailies" series is being shown. An educational film depicting a trip through the Dark Continent is also a very good one. Excellent War Gazettes and comedies, help to make up a fine programme, which .•should certainly be seen, KING'S THEATRE. ' • The current programme at the- King's Theatre is one of exceptional interest, and contains several "very fine pictures. , One of two stars being shown is entitled "' The Unopened Letter" and v a splendid two-reel Edison drama.
