' BOY SOLDIER’S,, BRAVERYJacques Goujon, a-„ young lad of 17, who volunteered fpnv service at the beginning of the war, has just been awarded the Medaille Mllitaire. A company of French soldiers; including him. self, set out to locale some enemy ma- 5 chine-guns. They- performed their task, after having shot- down two German sentries. A company of Germans surprised them,, however, and killed all save Goujon who managed to hide in a hollow made by a shell. After waging for three houjrs,. he left his hidingplace anil, destroyed two of the- machine gams with bombs before he was taken prisoner. Goujon then succeeded in eluding his guards, and brought back to the French lines the remaining quick-firer. The young soldier has since, however, had the misfortune to lose en arm through the explosion of a shell. In addition to receiving the highest mark of distinction a French soldier can receive he has been mentioned in the order of the day and been promoted.
