NATIONAL DAIRY SHOW.
The National Dairy Show attended on its scccii dry. Dating the night heavy rain fell, and the morningwas dull and threatening. POULTRY. The poultry exhibit was a large one, bMs being sent in from most parts of the North Island, also from Christchurch and the northers prions of the South Island. Orpingtons. —The entries were fairly numerous, the special- prizes going to W. E. Hicks (Otane), E. Baldwin (Palmerston North), and B", A. Fraser (Taihape). W. T. Hicks secured first prize for black cocks and white hens; B. A. Fraser for black hens; E. Baldwin for black pullets, and E. L. Field (Taihape) for white cockerels and pullets. In the selling classes, B. A. Fraser (Taihape) and O. Jackson (Ashhnrst) won the prizes. More interest was centred on the Wyandotte exhibits, due m* doubt to the'fact that North Island 1 championships were competed for. This section was the largest in the poultry division and some fine specimens of high-class birds were shown. D. H. Rutherford (Mauriceville) exhibit- of a silver Wyandotte cock was awarded the North Island championship and also secured the Poultry Association’s special prize, the Wyandotte Club’s special prize and' silver shield’. W. Hall (Lepperton) was awarded the championship for golden Wyandotte cocks; winch carries with it the Wyandotte Club’s shield and special prize; and' also the Poultry Association’s special prize. The award for - the best female bird in the championship classes went to El Ross (Christchurch) for Ms exhibit of a golden Wyandotte hen. Among the other prize-winners were J. W, Shaw ton), P. Larconib (Palmerston North), and E. H. Holland (Bunnythorpe). Special prizes and trophies- were also secured by John Jarvis (Palmerston North) for the champion partridge cockerel and partridge pullet. There were an appreciable' number of entries in the utility clases for poultry. In the Wyandotte section the prizes were carried off by T. W. Braggo (Picton), J. N, Shaw, J. H. Jewitt (Eketahuna), P. Larcomb R, L. Field, T. B. Holdaway (Bonny Glen), and J. arvis. T. A. Petrie (Picton), B. A. Fraser, D. C. Pinker (Palmerston N.), and Stewart and Landsberg scored in Orpingtons; L. V. Dahl, Stewart, and Landsberg and T. Krarnp (Palmerston) scored in Mihoreasy E. D; Whyte (Palmerston N.), L. V. Dahl, Sherwood Poultry Farm (Manakau), W. Bierre (Palmerston N.), J. N. Shaw, J. Cunningharae, A. M. Atkins, Stewart and Landsberg, and J. McKenzie (Taihape) in Leghorns. DUCKS. The competition in ducks the utility class was not very keen, the principal prize-winners in the Runner section being Stewart*" a/.J Landsberg R. Smith, and P: G. Bishop, while W. E. Axup '(Oliau). and D. E. Waldie (Levin) scooped the pool with Aylcsburys. PIGEONS. The ,iudge (Captain A. -A lion) had a very unenviable task fadsing the pigeons, as did Mr: A, MalcoTmaon in the canary section, the entries beingvery large. The remarks of the judges in both instances were complimentary on the classes of birds shown. FAT STOCK DIVISION. In the fat stock division, James MeKelvie (Carnarvon) gained the points prize and secured Mr. J. Holden’s tenguinea trophy. He was first in fat wethers (under two years)', fat ewes (under two years), fair ewes (under 35 months), and’ fat lamb wethers (under 12 months)'. Akers Brothers (Linton) were first in fat wethers ■ (under*two years, long woolled), fat ewes (un-» der two years), and fat wethers (undent 35 months, any breed). W. E&id andf' Son (Makiho) won the-fht lamb (ewef;, long wool,' under 12' months). BUTTER COMPETITION. The judging compete ion Dvr but-ter was won by J. H. Pedersen a?Vgaehu Dairy Co-operative-Dairy with J. Young (Cheltenham) second, a’nd J. Murray (Taradale) third. There were eighteen competitors; By his. ’success J. H.
