According to the Press, a farmer in the Patea district last season milked, single-handed, 43 cows with the aid of his machine, at a cost of slightly over 94 per day. During the month of May, 1,572 persons arrived in New Zealand from oversea and 2,496 left, as against 2,812 arrivals and 3,730 departures in May last year.
