A meeting of directors of the Patea Farmers' Co-operative Freezing Company was held on Saturday afternoon,, when it was decided to purchase a new 05-ton freezing machine with doublethe capacity of the machine at present, making altogether a 100-ton freezing plant, capable of puting through over 2,000 sheep daily as against 000 at the present time. It was further decided to add a new freezing chamber and storeroom capable of holding 2-1,000 extra sheep, making in all a total storage capacity at the works of 160,000 carcases, irrespective of the grading stores where at present 10,000 carcases are stored. It is proposed to drive the new freezing plant by means of a suction gas engine. The company has done splendid work this season, the killings being 9,945 cattle, 37,000 sheep, an« 2,400 vealers. Ths number is expected to be Supplemented by another 8,000 or 9,000 before the season closes.
