The following is the report subm to the meeting of householders last evening:—

The outgoing committee was ele on the sth of May, have < their best to carry out The work au taining to their office. During the year the Education B( erected the new lavatories, so ] needed and so long promised. We sure that the householders will pleased to know that this very presj work has been completed. A very successful children's fa dress ball was held during the y and", being stronglyand enthusiastic supported by the parents and tlie | pie of Taihape, the very handsomest of £sl 13/9 was made. Ten pon of this sum was voted to the Teefcn School funds. During the year, one of the sci staff, Mr. Arthur Fodea,. answered, the hour of need, tothe Empire's* and is now with the expedition force, fighting for his country. We c mend his fine spirit of patriotsm i wish him the best of good luck. Mr. Aldridge was compelled, throi stress of private business, to resign secretaryship. A vote of thanks ! Tegret was passed to Mr. Aldridge. : Kuhtze "took up the white man's' l den." ,•■•,,:

During the year there was an < break of diphtheria in the town j outlying districts. Your commit took all the necessary precautions see that there was no cause for unei ness as regards the school grounds i buildings. The drains and tanks w attended to and the Health Inspec (Mr. Pargeter) was twice called The inspector reported thateveryth: was as it should be and gave a cit bill of health. Nevertheless, we,J the buildings fumigated and disinf ted.

Besides the children's ball, aires noticed, there was held a childre: concert, in aid of the picnic and pr fund r which netted J. 20, odd shillin The school children were taken on excursion to Castlecliff by spec train. The primers and the fi two standards were carried fr The money that was earned by t concert enabled this to be done. 1 excursion was very well attended I the day was not too favourable and 1 trip was not so enjoyable as it otherw would have been. We recommend tl the excursion be held a little earlier the year in the future. Owing to joining the staff of Mesa

McLennan and Co., Mr. Evans w forced to resign the chairm)g&ip September 14th last The commit! accepted the resignation wrta regi and placed oh the minutes a "record their appreciation of Mr. Evans's fi work in the interests of the school. Your committee have been al (thanks to the very fine response t people of Taihape have always when asked to find money for the school) to get all the ground direct round the school building asphalte The contractor Mr. McKenzie, of W nganu) made an excelent job of the n dertaking, and we are sure that tl parents will be pleased to know th: the children will not be standing in mil and water during the winter" montn but will have a chance to keep the feet dry and warm.

Although this report may be gettin rather long, we cannot close without r< ferring to the school staff. In this r< spect there is room for the warmer coi gratulations. We are fortunate, 1 Ir deed, in having such a fine staff o teachers. Although there were severs changes through the year, Mr. Thursto is still with us. We trust that he wi] always be with us. He is an institutio in himself. His naturally kindly'am generous nature, his great patience an< tact with children, his marked abilit; as a head teacher and organiser, an( his unfailing courtesy and' affability t> all who may come in contact with liim make him the greatest asset a pubii< school could acquire.
