Meat: There is poorer demand for nil grades of meat on account of high prices ruling, together with the hot weather. Mutton: The market remains firm owing to short supply that is available for the general public. Canterbury 7d, heavyweights 6 7-Sd, North Island 7d for lightweight, ordinary quality 6 7-Sd, ewes Old. Lamb: Market is weaker though not actually lower. Canterbury S 3-Sd for all weights, other than Canterbury 8 3-Sd for best quality lightweight. Beef: New Zealand beef is not quoted. Cow' hinds arc selling as high ns 71d, fores 61 d, chilled hinds 8-Jd, fores 7 3-Sd.

Butter; Market is steady and prices firm. Danish 148/- to 349/-, New Zw land 140/- to 142/-, Australian 136/- to 138/- and up to 140/-, Siberian 130/132/-, Argentine 136/- to 138/*, Irish creamery 138/- to 144/-.

Cheese: During the week the tone of the cheese market has completely changed. The market closed dull, with less enquiry and prices declining. Canadian white 96/- to 97/-, col ured 94/to 96/-; New Zealand, wTiite 90/- to 98/-, and up to 99/-, coloured 95/- to 97/-, and up to 98/-; United States, in fair demand, 92/- to 95/-. Hemp: Market quiet, small business doing. The Manila output continues large owung to stocks of old grading forwarded for shipment before export, prohibited by law, comes into force at the end of June. The output from Manila for the week ending sth June was 2,800 bales. Fair current Manila £39; New Zealand, limited demand, exists for near positions and out forward shipments are neglected; business has been done with good-fair grade at £32 10/-, and with high points fair at £3l to £3l 10/-; fair is quoted at ill per ton less. The stock of New Zealand hemp at the end of May was 553 tons. Hops: Market is quiet but firm. English 84/- to 110/-; Californian 70/- to 95/-.

Wool: Prices for medium and coarse crossbrels of all grades are unchanged, but prices for merino and nne crossbreds of all grades have advanced. The current Bradford quotations for tops is 36/- lotv crossbreds 2/1; 40 % lore crossbreds, 2/2; -14’s, medium crossbreds, 2/3 J: 50's, halfbrods, 2/71; 56’s, quarterbreds, 2/91; 60 merinos,
