Hearing groans, neighbours broke into a house at Dredges, between Sheffield and Chesterfield, and found Mrs Margaret .Tones and her daughter lying in bed with their heads embedded in the pillow. Mrs .Tones was unconscious but her daughter was dead, and the bedroom was full of gas, which was escaping through an open tap.
