It has recently become noticeable in England that old coin is once more be. ing freely circulated. Treasury notes are used to a large extent, but there is a general interspersion of gold. A “Daily Expuress’’ representative interviewed a financial authorityy in the City of London who said: “Gold coin is again in easy circulation, and everything is practically normal in this respect. The hanks are generally well supplied, and there are no restrictions about issuing gold to their customers. Earlier in the war the hanks generally w-ere sending gold in great quantities to the Bank of England, but now much gold is being drawn and used in a normal manner,"
