ALIENS IN NEW ZEALAND. REPORT BY ALIENS BOARD. WELLINGTON, June 8. Following is the order of reference drawn up for the Board (Messrs A. D. Thomson, John Roberts and George Elliott) set up by '/the Government to advise on matters relating to alien subjects in New Zealand: (1) To enquire into the status, conduct or character of alien enemies being resident in New Zealand; (2) to enquire into, the necessity or propriety of the internment of such alien enemies.or of other restrictions on the liberty of such alien enemies; (3) to enquire into the necessity or propriety of the exercise by the Government of New Zea : land of any powers possessed or which may be hereafter possessed by that Government in respect of such alien enemies, whether by virtue of His Majesty's prerogative or by virtue of any statutory or other authority; (4) in pursuance of any such inquiry to report to and advise the said Government as to any of the matters aforesaid provided that no such inquiry or report shall be made except upon the written request and reference of a Minister of the Crown from time to time and every such inquiry and report shall be limited to the matters and persons specified in such request and reference. j mmamam i—«—— mmm
