FIRE AT INVERCARGILL. PIANO WAREHOUSE GUTTED. INVERCARGILL, Monday. The London Piano Company’s premises were gutted by fire on Sunday morning. A large stock of pianos and musical instruments was destroyed.' Insurances are in Dunedin. SUGAR SHORTAGETHE COMPANY’S STATEMENT. CHALLENGED IN CANTERBURY. TIMARU, Monday!. The local manager for Wilson and Co., Dunedin, merchants, takes strongexception to the telegram published on Friday, stating that the manager of the Colonial Sugar Co. declares that the supplies of sugar are ample to meet the Dominion’s requirements, and. that he does not anticipate a shortage Wilsons’ are the company’s distributing agents for South Canterbury, receiving shipments of about 100 tons every three weeks. Last Friday 25 tons only arrived. As Wilsons’ have no sugar stored this district is threatened with a famine; and they ask why if there are ample supplies available, the company is not distributing to them?
