One attack on the sugar refinery at Souchez was stopped by French aritilery, the other on the Labyrinth was repulsed by infantry. The French progressed, gaining ground east of La Chapelle and De Lorette, taking 100 metres and centre works in. the Labyrinth. The French attacked, near Hebuterno, the enemy’s position in the neighbourhood of a farm at Toutbont, taking two successive lines of trenches and capturing prisoners and some quick-firers. The Italian Naval Division operated, on Saturday against the enemy’s coasts and cut the cables connecting the mainland with the Dalmattra Archipelago, destroyed the lighthouse and observation stations; seriously damaged the railway bteween Cottaro and Ragusa, destroyed the flotilla bombarding Montifilcon, and sank merchandise laden lighters. North of Arras, fighting continued with extreme activity to the advantage of the French. Many successful attacks were made near the road at Noulettesolichez and we gained ground. Some more houses were taken at Neuville and Saint Vast and some additional trenches were captured in the centre/, - South of the Labyrinth we gained a hundred metres. In the neighbourhood of a mill the French, after bombarding, carried at one boond, two lines of trenches and several works. Three violent counterattacks were repulsed and 200 prisoners were taken. LONDON, June 7, 5.40 a.m. Large German naval forces were discovered in the middle ef the Baltic; they exchanged shots with the Russians in the proximity of the Gulf of Riga.
