TERMS OF MR BAILEY'S LEASE MODIFIED. [ At the meeting of the Borough Council last night the special committee, consisting of the, Mayor and Crs Wrightson, McLennan and Bennett, set up to review the .agreement with Mr H. Bailey, for leasing of the Town Hall for pictures reported having carefully considered the agreement with Mr Bailey, and recommended as follows: That Mr Bailey's rent b e reduced from £6 10/, to £4 per week from May Bth, 1915, for four months. That the Council pays cartage of an engine, to and'from Taihape for the purpose of generating power for Saturday nights, Mr Bailey to pay £1 per week rent of the engine. That the position be reviewed at the end of four months. The rent to rebate 13/4 per night, when the Council requires the Hall instead of £1 1/8 per night under the original agreement. The Mayor stated that Mr Bailey had expressed satisfaction Avith the new agreement and he moved that the report be adopted. Cr Wrightson seconded the motion. Cr Healey asked who was responsible for keeping the hall clean? The Mayor replied that Mr Bailey was. Cr Healey stated that being so, he did not see why the Council should be paying £52 a year for a caretaker in addition to a small charge for duties as nightwatchman. . Cr. Bennett agreed with A. Healey. • His Worship considered Gr Healey's remarks should form the basis of another motion* If he-cared to -move in that direction... "I asked th; e QUestioa so I would know the position," remarked Cr Healey. The report was then adopted. '%
