PASSPORTS ASKED FOR.
UNDER CHANGED NAME. REFUSED BY GOVERNMENT CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Dr Sandston, who recently changed iis name from Sandstein, applied to he Government for passports, as he ontemplated going home and offering iis services to the War Office. On June 1 he received the following rom the Under Secretary for Internal ijfairs: “Your letter was placed beore the Minister, who under the ciramstances agrees to the issue of passorts to your original name,” In reponse to his objection, °Dr Sandston eceived the next day the following elegram: “Govrenment is unable to ecognise the change of nam e made uring the w r ar and therefore will only ssue passport in your original name.
