ENTERTAINMENTS.
KING’S THEATRE. . This popular centre of amusement presented an excellent programme last night, when a ’crowded house was present. A number of good dramatic subjects were screened, including a fine police story. A star comedy, “Adventures of Miss Tomboy,” was also a good xneturo, and was noticeable for the various means of transit employed, A film portraying a New York Police Department Carnival was a very fine picture and an unusual one. It portrayed a race between a motor car, motor cycle, horse and bicycle, all manned by policemen, and many other interesting events. A fine War Gazette was also screened. Tiiis programme Is shown again to-night, and should not b e . missed, THREE STARS THEATRE. A fine programme has been arranged for this theatre to-night, when a large range of subjects will be screened. A grim diplomatic and military drama entitled “King in Name Alone,” will, without doubt, prov e a great success. The nobility of its characters is splendidly portrayed and the general theme of the picture i-s guaranteed to make the film 1 a general favourite. Other good dramatic subjects will be screened including a poaching drama. A fine range of scenic views, will be included and the humorous side of the programme will be supplied by a good Keystone. The latest War Graphic will also be shown. TOWN HALL PICTURES, REMINISENCE OP DICKENS. At the Town Hall to-night that beautiful and intensely humane work by Charles Dickens, “Martin Chuzzlewit” will be depicted as a photoplay. All lovers of Dickons will demember that Martin, for engaging himself to Mary Graham, without consent, was spurned by bis Uncle Anthony and the rest of his relatives. Mark Tap ley, sweetheart of wiedw Lupin, who keeps the Blue Dragon Inn, induces Martin to go to A.meirea with him, where they will make their fortunes. Jonas Chuzzlewit strikes a bargain to Mary Pecksniff's daughter, thinking she will inherit Martin’s Uncle’s estate, who does not die soon enough, so Jonas poisons him. Martin comes back from America to win his grandfather’s favour and the hand of Mary Graham. With these and other beautiful scenes the film is interestingly full. Other rcaly fin e pictures make up a really fine programme.
