The Russians crossed the Lubaczovka and occupied the village and monastery, inflicting heavy losses. On th e Zaderwacz, Ejolechov and Jawcrow front, the Russians repulsed several attacks, then assumed the offensive, capturing 7000 prisoners and 30 quickfirers. The enemy has begun a disorderly retreat. On th e Western Front; Heavy fighting has been resumed at Ypres, German reinforcements from Liege and Luxembourg are continually arriving. Allies’ airmen raided Zeebrugge on Sunday,

An Italian dirigible dropped bombs on the Austrian naval base at Pola, causing a great fire at the Arsenal. On Monday the Italain destroyer flotilla shelled the Montfalco Docks, seriously damaging them.
AUSTRIANS DESTROYING PROPERTY IN TRENTINO.
Aided bp the fleet the Allies continue to advance against main positions in Gallipoli. The French captured an important redoubt on the Turks’ extreme left on the night of the 28th May and repulsed all subsequent attack.

3?he population of Trieste is almost foodless. A hundred thousand have disappeared. Many have fled to Italy, but the bulk have been sent to camps in the interior of Austria.
Another Austrian aeroplane has been captured at Rimini.
THE DARDANELLES.
Refugees to Milan report that the Austrians retreating towards Trent destroyed property wholesale on the pretext of military necessity. Houses and factories in Rovereto and Trent, have been destroyed.

Constantinople advices state that defeats at the Dardanelles and submarines’ exploits at the Arsenal Wharf have intensified the gloom and accentuated the feeling in favour of opening the Straits and negotiating for peace. The submarine caused widspread panic, the people shouting “The Russians are coming.” and the troops aboard transports insisted upon landing. Officers drew their swords and prevented this, but eventually they disembarked.

Donohue says that from a high plateau at Asiago, the Italian heavy 'guns reduced several modern Austrian forts to powder. They took only three hours to batter to pieces an armoured fort at Luserna. The garrison put up the white flag' whereupon the Austrian fort known as Belvidere enfiladed the surrenderors, killing many. Ultimately theltalians silenced Belvidere and concentrated a terrific fire on Fort Yezena, which is now a heap of ruins.
