(To the Editor). Sir, —Your leader in Monday’s issue must have com e as a surprise to your readers, many of whom are contributing regularly to the various funds, for which funds a patriotic committee was set up at the beginning of the war and still exists and regularly acknowledge donations from time to time through the columns of your paer. Surely, Mr Editor, you are out of touch with what is going on in this town and must have been wandering slightly, when you advised a would-be subscriber to go to the postmaster or banker! Please note that lam and always have been ready and willing to accept and acknowledge gifts, either of money or in kind, for any fund or purpose and undertake to see that the same reaches its proper destination —Yours etc.,
