OBITUARY.
The many friends of the late Mr F. j. Carter will regret to learn that he died at his residence, "Taihape, rather suddenly on Sunday, after a long and painful illness. The deceased was a popular man at on© tim e in business in Taihape, and an excellent man of business. He went to South Africa during the Boer War and served as a trooper in the Imperial Light Horse throughout that campaign, serving his country with the'utmost bravery and credit; On his return to New Zealand hp married Lilian, the daughter of Mr J. Beilis, of Mataroa Road, and settled down to business. While serving his country he contracted a much dreaded disease which gradually grew worse, but h Q ... bor e his . sorrow. and illness with fortitude. He passed away.- suddenly ; about half-past, six, on; Sunday evening.
