(With which is incorporated The Talhape Post UhA Waimarinu News.)
In connection with the multiplicity of patriotic funds, which still continue to spring into existence with mushroomlike rapidity, the wastage and overlapping energy’ has been so great that it' has been deemed advisable to establish on e fund for the whole DomiiUon, rendering th© continuance of all other funds quit© unnecessary; The offortt-is practically universal and His Excellency the Governor is giving the

He suggested handing the monoy into this office , and although this office, unlike man y other newspaper offices, has not be -en made a. receiving room, the mono y would now have been in Wellingtot b in Mr Hislop’s hands, had he done i 50. But there need be *no confusion at al 1 as to whom money fbr the Hospital Ship should b e handed. In an appeal by the Governor, which appeared in' our Saturday's issue, it will be sa en that all Post OifieeSj as* weH as tl ie Bank of New Zealand, will receive whatever contributions townsmen and* settlers of the Taihape district feel j deased to make, and! they will be sen t to their destination free of any charge. “He that giveth" promptly givetl <- twice/’ and so that donations may i each the authorities- as soon as possil do. It Is advisable-that givers: should nc -ake us e of the clianirelk- .thaet: have beef 'i freely provided fdr conwemenc e as \ veil as to obvia%- wast e and overlap* mg of effort.
A correspondent hae written, i xsking why monies and' other donations made through Ideal' organisations art > not in the newspaper as wa s the custom when.' the Mayoress (Mrs Arrowsnrith) was a it the head ot ’ theorganisation for receiving donatiot is ins kind, ami* Mr Murrell for donation s i»moneys. Our correspondent op fnesthat money-contributions at least leave not ceased altogether since the M; ayoc* ess’ and-’Mr Murrell's fund were, prase* tically closed; and he thinks It ’would" largely stimulate giving if lists. were published; W e are not aware of any organisation for handling gifts ’ in Taihape at* present. We understand that a sort ofDadies' Working,Bee 1 ias been formed" for knitting aud makl ng comforts for our lads at the front: and for returned wounded, but beyoml that we no other, excepting, of coarse, th e excellent work being accomplished , by the Plunket Society. Th erefore- our correspondent is advised to give his donation to the local Postrnastert or to the-- Manager of the Bank of New Zealand (Mr Dymock). Such action will b e highly appreciated "by the authorities in Wellington, who have the difficult task in band ot getting-th© Hospital Ship away at the earliest possible moment so as to ameliorate the sufferings of our fads wounded at the Dardanelles, as far as possible. It may be added, that the- people of XJtiku are setting an example with respect to the publication of donations for the Hospital Ship that might be followed to advantage in many other centres
Since writing: the above the fact has been brought to our notice that the Mayoress is still keeping open the Liverpool Fund, by having received lists for publication, which appear in another column Owing to an indifference with respect to some matters in connection with all those funds, it would be advisable that some reliable man with the necessary leisure should b© asked to act as Secretary and Treasurer to all funds, more especially as there will be need for some other arrangement owing to Mr H. J. Murrel having been accepted as a volunteer for the front
