Official: Italians advanced into enemy territory in the Friuli frontier district. Resistance was feeble. They occupied the Cuporetta Heights, between Indrio and Issongo. LONDON, May 25, 1.50 p.m. ' In the Shavli region the Russians occupy a wide front on the line of the rivers Visdava, Venta, Dubissa and Siuf. In Galicia the enemy.forced by coun-ter-attacks, passed gradually to tbe defensive along almost the whole front, except in sectors near Vartihol, Podvo]ine and Gussakuvi, where, on Saturday, the enemy unsuccessfully attempted an attack. The Russian offensive, which opened on Saturday, being pursued along the left bank of the Dneister, developed on Sunday, with great success, notwithstanding; counter-attacks. The Riussiarfc captured, after fight?., old villages of Eourchitze, villages Q.f JcQfc.fr hnikhuff, and Holobove .and part of the yiiiagei of Obstruvc. In the course of the day they took 2,200 prisoners, 40 officers, dozens of machine-guns and a great quantiity of war material. In the trans-Dneister region there was a lull except between Achetchva and Loninitaa, where th e enemy, during the night of Sunday, made a fruitless attempt to attack.

Mecham, signalman at Quintin's Hill, testified that he shunted the local train to the up main line, and told Tinsley (another signalman), who later relieved him, that the train had been shunted.
