Three million men are attacking and counter attacking daily along the entire front. The Kaiser is personally direcing operations. Hiudenberg states that th e stupendous slaughter is due to the solid phalanxes, which the Kaiser ordered to cross the river north of Jaroslav. The Germans are across the San on a front of 15 miles. The Russians are holding the "bottle-neck" between Przemsysl and the Dneister marshes, where the Russians advanced and captured some villages.

The Petrograd correspondent of the Daily Chronicle states that the Russans are making Przemysl an anvil on which the German centre is being hammered, the hammer being the Russian advance southward from Nisbo.
