The notebook boars the name and address of the author, fvice-Feldwebel) in a landw'ehr infantry regimtent. This non-commissioned officer appears to have been told off for telegraph service on September 3, and to have handled a telegram sent by the Crown Prince to his wife on that day. He took a copy of the mess-, age in his notes: “Crownprincess, Berlin. "After hard fighting forced passage; of the Meuse* Continually meeting i enemy fortified in fresh positions. This oosts. t&rrfbJs. losses, but w« are adlast night at Marvilie, Ssry . sad., Wedel Mlled; Stenay very #reaiiy situated, but much knocked jabout, I live. in.pretty house belonging to old , lady.
