CLEVER BELGIAN HOAX.
The Germans have been neatly hoaxed by the people of Brussels. When the grand German concert was announced recently to take place at the Opera House, a syndicate of bnakers and brokers put up the necessary funds to buy out the entire house, with the exception of one seat in the middle of the stalls and the royal-box. When the Germans learned that the Belgian people had suddenly become so enthusiastic they suspected a plot, and took elaborate precautionary measures. On the night fixed for the concert the Opera House was surrounded by a treble cordon of troops. Naturally not one single Belgian used his ticket and when the concert began the house was absolutely empty except for a solitary Landsturm soldier in the middle of the stalls and General Baron von Bissing, alone and melancholy, in the royal box.
