"CHAKLEY'S AXTNT." Taihape playgoers will have an opportunity afforded them of witnessing a revival of Brandon Thomas' wellknown comedy, "Charley's Aunt," which opens a t the Town Hall on Thursday, May 20th. The attempt made by Charley's bogus relative, at a critical juncture, to fill the breach caused by the non-appearance of his genuine aunt, and the subsequent persistent but ludicrous efforts of a pair of elderly admirers to woo the fair imposter, are the foundation for a long series of mistakes and surprises which are excrutingly funny. The play is prolific in amusing situations which keep the audience in a hilarous state of amusement from the moment the pseudo dame "from Brazil where the nuts come from" enters upon the role of imposition nad deception until she ultimately works her undoing to the entire satisfaction of the parties concerned in her escapades. "Charley's Aunt" proved so popular in the South Island that return visits are being arranged, notably to Christchurch and Dunedin and many other tows. During the Wellington season over 10,000 people attended the performances at the Grand Opera House, whilst hundreds were unable to gain admission and had to be turned away. While on tour the members of the company have voluntarily lent their services wherever desired, to swell the Empire and Belgian funds, an aetion which has been greatly appreciated. The box<plan is now open at Finch's.
