RETURNED SOLDIER FUND.
ANOTHER CONTRIBUTION. (To the gditor). ’ Dear Sir—l am pleased to notice that a fund has been instituted to provide for the returned invalided and incapacitated members of our Expeditionary Force who are now in the Dardanelles. Mr Jorgensen's grand offer of one hundred guineas for tpiis purrpose should b e much appreciated. We will soon have a number of maimed and crippled soldiers with us and all should contribute a s much as they are able to alleviate the anxiety respecting how the returned wounded will be able to liv e in ordinary comfort. Many of tjhes'e men have dependants and the stoppage of military pay on dsicharge will depriye the dependants of what pecuniary benefit they liar's been in receipt of from the soldiers’ pay. I well remember that after the fall of Sebastapool the streets of England werle crowded with maimed, crippled and wounded soldiers. I, as a boy, used to assist in pushing them along the streets in their easy chairs and I would like to se,e our Taihape boys do th e same for those who will nbed like .assistance on their return here. I desire to assist the fund as far as able and will, forward the Mayor a cheque for £lO, preferably to be devoted towards assisting local returned troopers and their dependants.—l am, ets., T.P. RANSOM Taihape, May 14.
