A NOVEL “THRILL.”
Quite recently a Loudon publisher asked a well known Australian novel* ist whether it would be possible to vaico a “thriller” out of the voyage of the Australasian Expeditionary Force to Egypt—including tjhe sinking of the Emden. The Australian novelist pondered awhile before answering. Then he said; “It is possible to write a thriller, conditionally that I am permitted to invent a situation where the convoying Japanese warships seized the opportunity to sink the Australasian Expeditionary Fosce while the Sydney was engaged with the Emden.’* Needless to say, the idea did not appeal to that particular publisher, although! it is hinted that another bookseller is anxious to take it up. j
