TOWN HALL PICTURES. " Picture lovers are promised a real treat to-morrow (Thursday) evening when the well known play, one of Dickens* best, “The Cricket on the Hearth,” will be screened for one night only. Supporting films, in which JO|hn Bunny anl Flora Finch, both too well known to need description, will be featured. A very good evening’s amusement is assured. KING'S THEATRE. The programme at this place was again well patronised last night and will be shown for the ilast time -tonight. To-morrow night will be shown th e most talked of picture in New Zealand to-day. Mary Pickford as “Tess of the Storm Country.” j THREE STARS THEATRE. The new proramme submitted last night was screened to a good house. “His Trysting Place” a Keystone, was one of the best and the acting of Mable Nprmand and Chas. ChapJsn kept the audience in roars of laughter from the first, inch of the film to the end. This picture should be seen, as it i s too funny to explain. Another very amusing film is “Interrupted Nap.” This is quite a new feature Jin moving picturelining a tfiick farce. “The Eternal Parting” was also a sympathetic and beautiful picture. The programme will be shown for the last time to-night. “CHARLEY'S AUNT.” Thursday, May 20th, will .see. .“Charley’s Aunt” once more in our midst, and playgoers will be delighted at the chance of renewing their acquaintance with th e cu te old lady. Of this comedy little need b e said, as it is known in every quarter of the globe as one of the most humorous comedies ever written. “Charley’s Aunt” was in the hepday of popular favour when present playgoer s were sCjhoolchildren.but though time deals harshly with most plays, the delightful humour of the ’evergreen “Charley’s Aunt” is„ as piquant and spontaneous as when Charley’s celebrated relative, found herself to be such a mirth-provoking personality befor e the footlights. The -lady herself is an elderly maiden, and in common with the nuts, she is alleged to hail from Brazil. Speaking of the Wellington production the press says, “Charley’s Aunt” was produced at the Grand Opera House last night, and produced remarkably well. T|h,e piece went with a shriek from the first, and the audience, which was packed, in every part of the house, was treated exceptionally well. Included in the cast is Mr George Burnette, who toured this country with the "Squaw Man”; also Mr Frederic Hughes, who came out from Home with Lewi s Waller, and has recently been playing through New Zealand wtih th e Hugh Buckler Coy.. Mr Norman Aitken will play.the title role; Mr Norman Hales. Mr SnetMgue; Mr C. Bentley Russell, Jack Cbesney; Mr Kenneth Aitken,. Col. Sir Francis Che.sney; Mr George Burnette, Brassed; Mr Frederick Hughes, r V’vrlcy Wytkham; Miss IlardlngeMal'by, Donna .Lucia D’Alvadcroz; Miss Ruby Scott, Kitty Verdun; Miss Mar; e Fix, Amy Epettigue;. and Miss Ethel Lissack, Ella Delahay. Th e Box Plan opens at Finch’s on Saturday morning.
