One of the greatest afflictions of the theatre manager is the drunken man who insists on going into the theatre. One such turned up at a West End (Loudon) theatre some time ago. Obviously it was not desirable that ho should be admitted, in spite of the fact that he had already bought a ticket at one of the theatre ticket agencies. At the same time, care had to be taken not to offend him. “There has been some mistake about your ticket,” he was politely informed. “That seat has already been sold to someone else. But we will return what yoo paid for it.” The intoxicated gentleman smiled in the friendliest way and promptly produced another ticket. “I hie—thought you’d shay that,” he chuckled, “SO I bought—hie--ancthor! ”
