LIVE FROG IN COAL. Sir j Francis Brain, the -well known colliery proprietor, in a letter to the, "Forest of Dean Mercury," "To-day, at the coal-face in the or Sniith coal seam, at Trafalgar Colliery, Forest of Dean, a live frog was discovered. It was embedded in a poo-' ket in the solid coal and as the workmen broke out the coal it was seen. The frog is small in size, but quite nor. nial, is full of life and energy,..and with perfect eyesight dark in,.colpur ? the head being tinged with yellow It would; be interesting if those compel ent to express an opinion would.say how they think life can have been sustained under such circumstances and over such a very-long period—many, many thousands of years.
