ADDINGTON MARKETS. CHRISTCHURCH, April 7. With the exception of store sheep entries of all classes of stock at Addington market were rather smaller than at the previous week’s sale. The market was dull, and sales gGnerall} were infavour of buyers. The store sheep yarding was of inferior quality, and prices again showed a decline. The range was: Forward lambs 10/-, 13/3, inferior 5/9, 7/9, culls 3/9, 5/3, forward 4- and 6-tht. wethers to 14/-S, medium 12/6, 13/3, good 2-th. wethers 10/6, good s.ra. ewes 12/6, 16/-, fair sm. ewes 10/- to 12/-, inferior S/-, 9/9, good 4-, 6-, and S-tht. ewes 12/6, 16/6, failing-mouth ewes 7/6, 8/9, culls 2/6, 5/-. The fat lambs entry totalled 1,243, as against 1,575 last week. The quality of a large proportion of the offering was good. The sale, however, was dull, and prices weak. The range was: Prime lambs 15/6, 19/7, others 10/6 to 15/-. The fat sheep sale was very poor, and started with a drop in prices estimated at abouto 2/- per head, and it never recovered its tone. The entry of fat cattle was small, being 262, as compared witli 312 last week. The quality was average character, nad the market was irregular. Extra steers made 16/12/6, ordinary o 17/6 to 190/-; extra heifers to £ll, ordinary £5 to £8; extra cows to £ls 5/-, ordinary £5 7/6 to £8 Price of beef per 1001 b, 30/- to 42/-. Fat calves were scarce, and ranged from 18/- to £3 17/6. A fair number of dairy cows were yarded, and there was good competition for the better quality. Prices ranged from £3 10/- to £ll 15/-. Store Cattle: - There was a very small market, and the quality was poor. Quotations are: Yearlings £1 9/-, 15month to 18-month cattle £3 10/- to £2 15/-, 2-yr. heifers £3 10/-, 3-yr. heifers £3 10/-, 3-yr. steers £5 17/6, 3-yr. heifers £4 4/-, cows £2 10/- to £6 2/6. Pigs.—There was a fairly large entry of fats, but the proportion of unfinished was too largo, and the sale was very dull. Choppers made 48/- to 92/-, extra heavy baeoners to 73/-, heavy baconers 60/- to 67/-, light baeoner? 47/6, 57/6. Price per lb, 5Jd tv. skl. Unfinished to sd, heavy porkers 30/- to 36/-, light 25/- to 29/. Price per lb 4fd to 5-id. Store pigs were almost saleable. Large made 16/- to 25/-, small 8/- to 14/-, slips 3/- to 9/-, weaners 2/- to 4/-.
WANGANUI STOCK SALE. At the Wanganui sale there was a very large yarding of sheejD and cattle: 291 s.m. ewese sold at 13/-, 113 good ewese 12/10, 104 fat wethers 22/-, 122 2-th. wethers 17/-, 68 2-, 4-, and 6-th. ewes 11/4, 109 ewes 12/0, 100 s.m. 13/3, 284 breeding ewes and 8 rams 16/10, 522 4-th. wethers 21/9, 20 fat lambs 11/6, 20 Lincoln ewes 11/5, 4-yr. ewes 12/11, 30 forward lambs 9/7, 150 ewes (good mouths) 11/2, good ew r es passed at 129, 96 lambs 10/3, 266 forward wethers 20/7, 458 2th ewes 14/9, 462 forward wethers 22/-, 380 lambs 11/-, 340 good mouth ewes 17/11, 246 f.m. ewes 16/4, cull ewes 13/9, 40 6-tht. wethers passed at 20/4, 170 good wethers 20/5. 400 woolly lambs 14/1, 46 ewes and 9 wethers 13/10, 61 lambs 11/3. HIDE AND SKIN REPORT. Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Painerst on North, report: At our monthly sale on Bth April w r c offered a good catalogue of all classes, to a full attendance of buyers. Competition was keen for wo 1 and sheepskins, which sold at prices fully equal to last sales' rates. Hides, however, w r ere very dull of sale and we were forced to pass in a number of lots. Tallow was in good" demand at late rates. We quote. —Wo. 3; Crossbred, bright and clean, 12d to 14|d; inferior and seedy 9kl to llfd, lambs’, good lines 12d to 13fd, seedy and interior 7}d tc lOd. Dead wool IDd to llfd. Pieces and bellies Sfd to 9kl. Crutchings and pieces 9fd. Locks 64d to 74d. Ditto inferior and seedy to 441. Black wool lOd.
Sheepskins.—Full wool, coarse, 10c! to 10Jd; ditto medium and fine 10Id;
