HUNTERVILLE TOWN BOARD
MONTHLY MEETING At the monthly meeting of the Board the Town Clerk, Tauraarunui, forwarded copy of “itinerant traders’ by-law.” Not much revenue would he derived from this source as when traders commence to open up and are approached bp the collector they generally leave. The main object of the by-law was to protect bona fide business and the result had been achieved. The Ohakune Town Clerk wrote pointing out a by-law that would meet the Board’s object. Members expressed themselves as in favour of a by-law of the sort, and after discussion i t was resolved that the matter be referred to the Chairman and Crs. Berry and McManaway to report next meeting. A. V. Timed, on behalf of the Auctioneers’ Association, wfrote asking that water troughs be provided at the sale yards and in the paddocks adjoining.
Cr McManaway moved “that water be supplied through a meter, to be provided by the Association.” Tim speaker said that the Assoc alien were ratepayers and entitled to consideration. If an extraordinary amount were used then it could be charged for —Cr McAlley seconded. —Carried. A. J. Joblin, member of the Wanganui H. and C. A. Board, wrote that he was supporting the proposal to appoint a second health inspector. He suggested £5 as a fair contribution fqfr the Hunterville Board. The Wanganui Board wrote in regard to the same matter, suggesting £ls as a fair subscription. It was resolved to approve of the extra officer, provided be resided in Taihapa and the Board’s share was £5. It. was resolved to hold over the question of purchasing a purifier.
