SOME "FREAK" DIVORCE SUITS. Declaring that her health had been shattered by the conduct of her husband, who, she alleges, has made a pet of a tarantula, Mrs. Grace B. Wallen has filed suit for divorce from 0. E. Wallen, of Minneapolis. Sued for divorce on the ground that he padded his shoulders to conceal a humped back, Jacques Roderiz, of Portland, Oregon, filed a counter-com-plaint, alleging that his wife added to her charms by padding herself "elsewhere." The couple had been married ony three weeks. The day after the wedding they separated. Roderiz is a wealthy ranchman. At Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Isaac Kisbaugli placed a market value of 35 dollars on his wife, Clara Kisbaugh, and because he did so the court granted her a divorce. Mrs. Kisbaugh was married on May 30, 1902, and lived with her husband until October, 1008. Recently she started a divorce action against her husband, nad in September Kisbaugh wrote her to the effect that she had a cash value of 35 dollars to him. Part of his letter read: "If 3-011 don't want to do that, all right, you can suit yourself. I had ought to get something for eight years' work." Because of the difficulty of determining whether a woman was justified in deserting her husband because she was afraid of rattlesnakes, which she believed to abound near her husband's residence in Imperial Valley, California, Judge Guy continued the application of Mrs. Hattie M. Scott for a divorce from Charles R. Scott. The original complaint charged Scott with desertion. He also alleged that his wife deserted him, stating that he moved from San Diego to Imperial Valley and established a home there, to whiteh sh<: refused to come. Numerous letters were introduced, in which Mrs. Scott said she understood that Imperial Valley, was infested with rattlesnakes and that ske would rather die than live there.
