(By Jack Vincent.) There’s a dreadful smell in the Bosphorus, Caused by lyddite, sulphur and phosphorus; And the aspect of things ain’t prosperous, For the Sultan’s chequered lot. For Queen Elizabeth’s visiting cards Are fluttering - over his foul backyards, Politely conveying her best regards While he’s dancing the “Turkey Trot. ’ ’ She’s serving out chocolates, one by one, And every lollie just weighs a ton, All hot from the breech- of a British gun, And each of them finds the spot. Oh, the ibis cackles to see the fun, How sedate old gobblers prance and run! Allah-il-Allah! this collars the bun, The comical “Turkey Trot.’’
